The Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO) conducted a Focused Group Discussion (FGD) on Ship Registry and Ship Building/Ship Repair Development Act at Luxent Hotel, Quezon City, 14 November 2024.
The MARINA, headed by Administrator Sonia Malaluan emphasized the importance of establishing a more effective and competitive maritime economy in the country. She underscored that the successful passage of these two bills will provide adequate support to the seafaring community and increase national security which is vital for maritime sovereignty.
Upon conclusion of the discussion attendees agreed that the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) shall finalize the draft bills including the comments and position papers of other agencies. Dir. Rickee Gerald Brieva of the PLLO-HREP Outpost assured the attendees that the PLLO will continue to provide necessary support and assistance to the concerned agencies towards the successful passage of the bills.
