His Excellency President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., together with first lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, led the celebration of the 123rd Founding Anniversary of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) at the PCG headquarters in Port Area, Manila, 22 October 2024.
In his message, President Marcos Jr. thanked the PCG for protecting the country's sovereignty, sovereign rights, and jurisdiction and in being at the forefront of efforts to ensure that fishers and their fishing rights are respected and recognized throughout the vast maritime areas. He also reaffirmed the support of the administration to the PCG.
During the ceremony, President Marcos Jr. handed awards to PCG personnel and crews. Secretary Mark Llandro L. Mendoza, Presidential Adviser on Legislative Affairs and Head of the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO) received the Best Auxillary District awards for the Coast Guard Auxillary District - Southern Luzon in his capacity as the Auxiliary Rear Admiral. PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan and Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista were also in attendance.
