President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. delivered his third State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Batasang Pambansa, 22 July 2024.

President Marcos emphasized that the Philippines cannot yield or waver in defending the West Philippine Sea, even as Manila entered into a deal with Beijing on resupply missions to BRP Sierra Madre at Ayungin Shoal.

He also ordered the inclusion of additional cash aid to 4Ps beneficiaries who are pregnant or have children. President Marcos also highlighted the achievements of the 4Ps that more than 4,000 former 4Ps beneficiaries are now licensed teachers, with at least 35 of them topping various licensure examinations in the country.

President Marcos highlighted the government’s transformative actions and marching orders to fully implement the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028 to transform the country’s production and social sectors with the aim of achieving the government’s paramount objectives of food security and rapid, sustained, and inclusive economic growth.

He urged lawmakers to approve the National Expenditure Program for FY 2025 in their usual timely manner.

Finally, President Marcos ordered a total ban on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), and a directive for PAGCOR to wind down their operations until the end of the year. The declaration earned standing ovation and loud applause from the spectators.

Officials and officers from the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO) participated and assisted cabinet and other government officials during the said event.
