The Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO), led by Secretary Mark Llandro Mendoza and Undersecretary Agapito Guanlao, conducted an internal coordination meeting with the members of the House Committee on Revision of Laws headed by Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio Gonzales, Committee Chairperson Rep. Edward Maceda, Vice Chairpersons Rep. Anna Veloso-Tuazon, Rep. Ysabel Maria Zamora, and Rep. Danny Domingo, together with the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Officials and Technical Staff, headed by Deputy Executive Director Maria Dionesia Guillermo, 21 September 2023.
During the meeting, the New Government Procurement Law was presented. Rep. Maceda explained that the committee drafted a substitute bill with the goal to find a common ground between the substitute bill and the draft proposed by the DBM.
DBM presented the proposed amendments to the Government Procurement Reform Act and emphasized that these proposals will ensure the appropriate adoption of procurement modalities and will address the current procurement challenges.
Rep. Maceda raised various concerns from other representatives and DBM committed to look into each suggestion to incorporate on their draft bill.
The Technical Working Group is set to hold five more meetings before its sub-committee approval.
